Bonn Guidelines will form part of the broader framework of the Convention on Biological Diversity to
promote and safeguard the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources. Bonn Guidelines will serve as a vital tool for the full implementation of the Convention and the safeguarding of the natural wealth on which all human societies depend.

The objectives of this Convention, to be pursued in accordance with its relevant provisions, are the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources, including by appropriate access to genetic resources and by appropriate transfer of relevant technologies, taking into account all rights over those resources and to technologies, and by appropriate funding.

CBD GUIDELINES The Ecosystem Approach 2004. The ecosystem approach is based on the application of appropriate scientific methodologies focused on levels of biological organization, which encompass
the essential structure, processes, functions and interactions among organisms and their environment. It also recognizes that humans, with their cultural diversity, are an integral component of many ecosystems. The ecosystem approach is essential in guiding action under the various programmes of work of the

A Pacific information brief from the Pacific Invasives Partnership (a working group of the Roundtable for Nature Conservation in the Pacific Islands)

The Conference of the Parties (COP) agreed on a provisional list of global headline indicators, to assess progress at the global level towards the 2010 target (decision VII/30), and to effectively communicate trends in biodiversity related to the three objectives of the Convention. In decision VII/30 the COP established a process for testing and developing the indicators, with inputs from SBSTTA, the ad hoc Working Groups on ABS and Article 8(j), and an AHTEG on indicators for assessing progress towards the 2010 biodiversity target.

 SPREP

In the 30th SPREP meeting held in September this year, the meeting supported the scaling up of environment data management in the Pacific and directed the Secretariat to initiate a process for developing a full-sized project proposal to support the scaling up environmental data management work in the region.

Later in October,  the Inform Project participating countries collectively agree on the need to scale up and extend the Inform Project services beyond 2022.

The number of multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) and institutions has grown steadily over the last few decades. The work taking place under these agreements and within these institutions is increasing in volume and specificity, and it is having an increasingly substantive impact, particularly as there is an increasing focus on practical implementation.

This edition of the Multilateral Environmental Agreement Negotiator’s Handbook principally to respond to the need for a practical reference tool to assist in addressing the many complex challenges in such negotiations.

Biosafety is one of the issues addressed by the Convention on Biological Diversity. At its second meeting, held in November 1995, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention established an Open-ended Ad Hoc Working Group on Biosafety to develop a draft protocol on biosafety, focusing specifically on transboundary

The RMI NAP process commenced after the 2050 Climate Strategy for RMI was published in September 2018. The 2050 Climate Strategy dealt mainly with mitigation issues with emissions targets for the Nationally Determined Contributions but also called for the urgent development of a National Adaptation Plan to provide for a balanced dialogue on RMI priorities for mitigation activity for reducing emissions and adaptation activity for addressing the potentially critical impacts of climate change.

This dataset contains rasters and a metadata file for global mean monthly sea surface temperature (°C) from 2010-2019. Rasters are in WGS84 coordinate system (EPSG 4326). Sea surface temperature is the temperature of the top millimeter of the ocean's surface. Sea surface temperatures influence weather, including hurricanes, as well as plant and animal life in the ocean. Like Earth's land surface, sea surface temperatures are warmer near the equator and colder near the poles. Currents like giant rivers move warm and cold water around the world's oceans.
